AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Closing arguments could begin Tuesday in the murder trial for APD Officer Christopher Taylor, should the state not bring forward any rebuttal witnesses. On Monday, attorneys representing Austin Police Officer Christopher Taylor finished presenting their case after the state rested last week. Taylor is on trial for murder in the death of Michael Ramos. Prosecutors expect to wrap mid-week in APD officer’s murder trial Taylor shot and killed Ramos, 42, during an incident with police back in April 2020 at a south Austin apartment complex's parking lot. SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Monday night, the San Marcos City Council decided to move its vote on the comprehensive plan called Vision SMTX ++. This plan will serve as a roadmap for the city's next 20 years. Ultimately, council members agreed they needed more time to look through feedback sent to them by residents. Council decided to move the vote to Jan. 16, 2024. In the meantime, two council members and the mayor volunteered to create a committee tasked with working with city staff to gather more community input about the plan.During public comment, people were divided on their feelings for the plan. Some encouraged the council to approve it. "It has taken years of drafting, it has cost tens of thousands of dollars and it has included thousands of hours of work to bring this inclusive, community-driven version to completion," one supporter said. DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) – The Del Valle Independent School District said Monday families of elementary and middle school students, including those outside of the district, were invited to learn about academic and career programs at Del Valle High School.The district said the program called Discover Del Valle takes place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at the high school on Ross Road beginning at 6. According to the district, families will hear about careers including health sciences, culinary arts, automotive technology, welding and robotics. CLAYTON, Mo. -- A high-rise building is being evacuated in Clayton after a carbon monoxide detector went off in one of the units. Firefighters tell FOX 2 that they received a call about the issue from the Clayton on the Park building at the corner of Bonhomme and Brentwood at around 6:30 a.m. That call potentially saved lives.The 23-story building has about 20 floors of occupied condos. Windows can be seen open in the building and people are on the street level waiting for clearance to go back in at around 8:15 a.m.Firefighters determined that the unit providing heat to the entire building is malfunctioning. A couple in West Hollywood is devastated after their dog was stolen from them at gunpoint near their apartment building. One of the dog’s owners, identified only as Justin, told KTLA 5’s Annie Rose Ramos that he and his girlfriend were walking their English bulldog named Capone while Justin went to retrieve belongings from his car on Olive Drive around 11:45 p.m. Monday night.  That’s when three thieves pulled up, jumped out of a black four-door Jeep and pointed a gun at them. According to Justin, one of the gunmen told him to “give [him] the dog or [he dies].” Historic hangar at former air base in Orange County engulfed in flames While one thief took Capone to the back of the Jeep, another jumped into Justin’s car and ransacked it, throwing his belongings around.
