World on 'thin ice' as UN climate report gives stark warning BERLIN (AP) — Humanity still has a chance, close to the last, to prevent the worst of climate change ’s future harms, a top United Nations panel of scientists said Monday. But doing so requires quickly slashing nearly two-thirds of carbon pollution by 2035, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said. Bruce Willis’ family celebrates actor’s birthday with moving social media posts The United Nations chief said it more bluntly, calling for an end to new fossil fuel exploration and for rich countries to quit coal, oil and gas by 2040. “Humanity is on thin ice — and that ice is melting fast,” United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said. “Our world needs climate action on all fronts — everything, everywhere, all at once.”Stepping up his pleas for action on fossil fuels, Guterres called for rich countries to accelerate their target for achieving net zero emissions to as early as 2040, and developing nations to aim for 2050 — about a decade earlier than most current tar...

Kiszla vs. Gabriel: Should Broncos trade receivers Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy?

Published Sun, 24 Nov 2024 03:18:52 GMT

Kiszla vs. Gabriel: Should Broncos trade receivers Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy? Kiz: Ground and pound? The Broncos added so much muscle during free agency I wonder if maybe new coach Sean Payton is going to go back to the future and operate his offense out of the single wing formation, with quarterback Russel Wilson imitating Sammy Baugh. OK, I kid. But with this apparent new emphasis on the run, does it make sense for Denver to trade Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy?Gabriel: Other teams around the NFL have been asking the Broncos the same question. Don’t you think you could offload one of your receivers to us for a nice, low price? Denver’s quartet of Sutton, Jeudy, Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler hasn’t been on the field much together because of injuries. Patrick missed all of last year, Hamler’s played 10 games in the past two seasons, Sutton missed virtually all of 2020 and Jeudy’s had minor issues here and there. So it stands to reason Denver might be interested in finding some fresh blood.Related ArticlesDenver Broncos | Broncos Journal: What’s ...

Trump calls for protests, but even supporters dismiss idea By ERIC TUCKER and MICHAEL KUNZELMAN (Associated Press)WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s calls for protests ahead of his anticipated indictment in New York have generated mostly muted reactions from supporters, with even some of his most ardent loyalists dismissing the idea as a waste of time or a law enforcement trap. The ambivalence raises questions about whether Trump, though a leading Republican contender in the 2024 presidential race who retains a devoted following, still has the power to mobilize far-right supporters the way he did more than two years ago before the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. It also suggests that the hundreds of arrests that followed the Capitol riot, not to mention the convictions and long prison sentences, may have dampened the desire for repeat mass unrest.Still, law enforcement in New York is continuing to closely monitor online chatter warning of protests and violence if Trump is arrested, with threats vary...
