CHICAGO (AP) — Bobby Witt Jr. hit a go-ahead home run and Cole Ragans pitched six effective innings to help the Kansas City Royals end a three-game skid with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday.Ragans (4-4) struck out nine while allowing eight hits and all three Chicago runs. He struck out three straight batters to end his final inning.The Cubs started the day 2 1/2 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central standings and missed a chance to creep closer after striking out 13 times. A North Lauderdale home went up in smoke with flames shooting through the roof.Cellphone footage captured thick black smoke and flames towering over the residence along the 700 block of Southwest 76th Avenue, Friday morning.The smoke could be seen from half a block away,Firefighters sprang into action as they attempted to douse the ferocious flames.Witness Ralph Baptiste shared his own reaction.“I was in my backyard, until I heard sirens come out,” he said. “I went to the front, and then I seen this big smoke, you know, flames and black clouds.”A charred mess was left behind toward the rear of the home.Officials said the fire started in the kitchen and quickly spread. Surveillance video shows a detention officer for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department who is accused in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend as he surrendered to police.The security footage, obtained exclusively by 7News, captured Chase Harder, wearing a red tank top and dark colored shorts, as he entered the lobby of the Coral Springs Police Department, late Tuesday night.Police said Harder, 21, confessed to shooting and killing his girlfriend in front of his 3-year-old daughter.The surveillance video showed Harder sitting down next to the entrance of the lobby as he talked on the phone.“Do me a favor: stand up and put the phone down. Severe storms tore through southern New England Friday morning, with multiple tornadoes confirmed in North Attleboro, Mansfield, Weymouth and Scituate, Rhode Island.Sky7-HD was over Johnston, Rhode Island, showing a destroyed home missing part of the structure. A swimming pool at a nearby home was filled with heavy tables, chairs, an umbrella and patio furniture. Workers were also spotted in bucket trucks working on the downed power lines. The tornado in Scituate, Rhode Island took down a large tree, seen here laying across the top of a red building. Another aerial shot from the area shows all the trees surrounding a house snapped in half.The strong winds also stripped on shingles and damaged many roofs in the area. Beginning in 1997, Chuck Adamopoulos manned the sidelines as the Raiders’ head coach, winning three Super Bowls before stepping down following the 2022 season.
