ROCKLAND – After drilling a potential game-winning 27-yard field goal in Friday’s South Shore league matchup between 4-0 teams Rockland and Norwell, a defensive penalty necessitated a redo for Rockland kicker Jacob Comman. The senior kicker wasn’t fazed, knocking the ball through the uprights to give the Bulldogs a 23-21 victory over the Clippers.“If you already did it once, you can easily do it again,” Comman said. “The game was on the line but I knew what I had to do, everyone was depending on me.”The kick gave the Bulldogs a lead for the first time with just three seconds remaining in the game. Entering the second half, a Rockland victory looked unlikely, to say the least.Norwell jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the first drive of the game with a 17-yard pass from quarterback Jack Luccarelli to wide receiver Jackson Adams. The Clippers would force a turnover and quickly score again, this time from a Luccarelli seven-yard run.The Bulldogs would return with force as quarterback Jor...

They do a great job, and our kids just came in and competed. We made some plays when we had to, and fortunately for us we did because they weren’t giving up … I’m proud of our kids and the way they competed. It was just a great game.”For the majority of the opening half, however, the Hawks found themselves being baited into Scituate’s game. The Sailors relied heavily on a ground-and-pound a...
