7 Investigates: Homeowners surprised with liens on homes after signing 40-year listing agreement For years, music teacher Simon Watts called his Somerville condo home.He wasn’t looking to sell, but was intrigued when a real estate company, MV Realty, offered him upfront cash in return for the promise that they could sell him home when the time was right.“I was a bit skeptical,” he remembered. After talking to some people and researching the company, he decided to take them up on the offer of $2,120 in exchange for the exclusive rights to list his home in the future.“When I didn’t find anything, I thought why not?” he said.He said he thinks he used the money to buy flights for the family and then didn’t think much of it after that. What he didn’t know was that the company placed a lien on his property. Since Watts didn’t try to sell his home in the year since he signed with MV Realty, he said he was unaware his home had a lien on it until 7 Investigates reached out this fall.“I don’t think they should be able to. I mean that’s ridiculous t...

King Philip comes out flying, tops Barnstable in Div. 2 state semifinal WEYMOUTH — Making it to Gillette Stadium for a state title game is actually really difficult. It’s just that King Philip makes it look so easy.Following a 41-21 win over Barnstable in a Div. 2 state semifinal, the Warriors clinched their sixth appearance out of the last seven tournaments.KP improves to 11-0 heading into a date with Franklin at Fenway Park next week. Barnstable falls to 9-2.The Warriors were utterly dominant from the jump, as they seemingly did everything right, from running the ball, to throwing it, to playing defense.“It’s great,” KP coach Brian Lee said. “I’m so happy to have these guys. I’m so proud of their effort. It’s not easy to win games. It’s not easy to go in and compete against these teams. It’s hard to get there. To put yourself in that position, it shows how hungry the boys are because there could be complacency. You’ve already been, especially these guys, some of them it will be their thi...

Does Zach LaVine have lingering resentment over benching a year ago? ‘I haven’t heard that at all,’ Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan says. The potential of an impending trade has dominated this week for Zach LaVine. But before Wednesday’s 96-94 loss to the Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan wasn’t concerned about his star guard’s ability to balance his focus between the off-court drama and his on-court duties.“He’s always been coachable,” Donovan said. “He’s always been a guy that you can go to and talk to.”Another haphazard game from LaVine, however, offered more questions than answers about the two-time All-Star’s future with the Bulls. This week has added tumult to the latest chapter of the LaVine era in Chicago — a chapter bookended by two games against the Magic. When the Bulls faced the Magic on Nov. 18, 2022, LaVine suffered the worst shooting night of his life. He shot 1-for-14 from the field, missing all five of his 3-point attempts, before Donovan finally yanked him off the court for the final four minutes, forcing LaVine to watch f...
